Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself.

As we progress through autumn and towards winter, it can be a confusing couple of months, especially when it comes to the ways in which we dress. October is particularly difficult, with cold mornings and warmer afternoons leaving us sweltering in our knitwear. Fortunately, there are a number of different hacks you can follow to ensure you’re fully prepared for the winter months, from layering up your favourites to switching out your jacket for a faux fur gilet. You can ensure that your style remains on point this season with the following trends:
Deciding what to outfit to wear on crisp mornings can be difficult, particularly when the weather starts off at a measly 5-10 degrees and creeps up into the teens and twenties throughout the day. For this reason, layering up your outfit in winter is your best bet. It’s simple to get the hang of and helps to ensure that you won’t get too warm nor too cold throughout the day. If you do, you can just add another layer or take one off!
Often, we can play it too safe when it comes to layering clothes. Instead of picking out a pair of basic denim jeans and a crisp white shirt underneath a cotton jumper, use layers to make a foil pleated skirt suitable to wear in the daytime. For extra warmth, chuck on your chunky-knit cardigan and add a belt to cinch in your waist.
It may be winter, but it’s not cold enough to go all out with a thick puffer jacket just yet; instead, opt for a faux fur gilet. Faux fur gilets are perfect for any occasion and despite being completely sleeveless, will keep you warm as we transition further into the festive months. What’s more, you can find high-quality faux fur gilets almost anywhere, including on the high street! Pair with some dark wash denim jeans, knee-high boots and a long-sleeve crewneck t-shirt for that extra glam look.
Year on year we find that the same prints come back into fashion and AW18 is no different! Leopard print, dogtooth print and check patterns remain just as popular, with an increasing number of brands selling runway prints at an affordable price. While leopard print is perfect for those who are brave enough to be bold, dogtooth is great for individuals who want to stay on the fashion bandwagon but aren’t quite ready to jump outside their comfort zone. If you want to rock the leopard print but are yet to make up your mind, just add a touch of the pattern to your wardrobe with a scarf or a pair of earrings to dress up a basic outfit.
Many often associate winter with dark colours such as black, maroon and forest green, and why wouldn’t you? With retailers often focussing on warmer but ultimately duller shades, it’s easy to get caught up in the fad and purchase an array of black jumpers in different styles. This year, why not brighten up your winter wardrobe with shades of yellow, orange and red? Not only are these colours perfect for making a statement, but you won’t get bored of wearing the same kind of outfit on repeat. If you’re not quite ready to wear a bright red knit jumper outside of the house, slowly introduce the trend to your wardrobe with a scarf or boots.
Regardless of your style, you can rest assured that these upcoming trends for winter 2018 will transform your wardrobe. Which one is your favourite?
